QS Rose Dreaming – Long Overdue Update

I think the last blog update on this piece was back in June. I did mean to update back in September, but some how it slipped my mind. I’ve got quite a bit done on her face, this was mostly done by September though, as you can see in the first picture.

I’ve managed to do a little bit more, but it’s not much. And as I’m trying to get around to all my WiPs at the moment I don’t think I’ll be picking it up until about June.

She does look good though doesn’t she 🙂

Crazy January Challenge 2011

In a fit of madness I’ve signed up to the Crazy January Challenge 2011, masterminded by Minna.

The rules of the challenge are as follows:

1. Start stitching a new design every day, from January 1st to January 15th. So by January 15th you have 15 new WIPs to stitch!

2. Finish everything you started stitching during the year 2011.

3. Show photos in your blog if you have one, in January and during the whole year while you stitch.

4. Have fun stitching!

I have a few projects I want to start so this is the perfect excuse, I haven’t quite put 15 together yet though, but I’m sure I’ll have it sorted before it’s time to stitch it. Will just stitch the sorted and kitted out ones first.

So here is my almost complete list:

1. ‘Jungle Scamp’ by Maria Diaz from Cross Stitch Collection February 2010)

2. KISS cushion by Emily Peacock

3. A cross stitched wall hanging mail organizer (is there a better name for them?) My mom wanted one so I’ve found an alphabet I liked along with some motifs.

4. Blackwork Lady from WOXS Summer 2010

5. Baby Panda by Pollyanna Pickering from Cross Stitch Collection June 2010

6. Wedding sampler
Stitching this freebie (scroll down a bit for Coeur), and adding the names and date inside the heart.

7. HAED A Favour by Edmund Blair Leighton

8. Snowflake biscornu by Faby Reilly – Decided I want to do a Basket of Biscornus this year so it’s a good a time as an to get started.

9. 2011 Christmas Ornament – I’m planning on doing one a month so a great time to kick start this

10. Tranquil Valley by PINN Stitch

11. Sleepy Hollow by Raise the Roof Designs

12. 2011 Birthday Cards – will try and do better this year with cards out at the right time etc.
First up, hubby’s birthday I’m thinking xbox related.

13. Time for God by Lizzie*Kate

14. Hot water bottle cover – will be stitching this straight on to fleece using waste canvas. Just need to decide on motif

15. Undecided

HAED QS Rose Dreaming – Another Update

With our A/C misbehaving I haven’t managed a lot of stitching this month, my HAED for example has been left untouched since the last update and until Wednesday. But then I felt the need to stitch on it again, and did the whole background for Page 1. I’m so in love with the evenweave, it’s so soft and really easy to stitch on. I was really worried before I tried it, having read other peoples accounts of working with evenweave. Next I guess I’ll have to try linen, but with it being uneven-weave I’m even more scared of it.

Anyway here is my update picture, next update should have some of the full cross stitches of the face 🙂

HAED QS Rose Dreaming – Day Two Update

Should really have posted this yesterday but forgot. Here is where I got up to with Rose yesterday.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Made a start on the Kreinik and really loving the sparkle 🙂 Unfortunately didn’t get any stitching done today, but there is always tomorrow.

HAED QS Rose Dreaming – First WIP Picture

Well I’ve started my first HAED (Heaven and Earth designs), QS Rose Dreaming by Brigid Ashwood. I started from the top left corner since I had sort of gridded it and have been working it by colour in that section.

I’ve decided to do the design in both tent stitch and full crosses, the background, which is what I’m currently stitching, is being stitched in tent stitch, 2 over 1. And the figure is being stitched in full crosses 1 over 1.

I’m stitching on 25-count white Lugana, which is my first experience with evenweave. So far I’m loving it, the fabric is nice and soft, and the stitches look so small and delicate.

My only problem came when I wasn’t paying enough attention and ended up using the wrong thread colour with the wrong symbol. I finished stitching the colour in that section before I realized what I had done. In fact, I made a mistake while stitching the colour, frogged it and restitched and then had to frog again because of my stupid mistake.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a frogless day, but until then here is a picture of today’s progress.

Can you guess what I want NOW? Yup, death to ALL frogs
